Salmon Creek Greenway Trail, opened in 1996, offers a scenic natural getaway in northern Vancouver, Washington. This location is perfect for a quick escape into nature. Only a few blocks from Interstate 5, the Greenway features 35 acres of developed parkland and 368 acres of undeveloped green space. The paved, tree-lined trail winds along Salmon Creek and through wetlands for about 3.1 miles, one way. This location offers access to the Salmon Creek Greenway Trail and Klineline Pond at the east end. Despite the urban setting there are sightings of deer, rabbits, raccoons, beavers, coyotes, opossums and many kinds of birds including migrating waterfowl.

On the Salmon Creek Greenway Trail you will travel next to the creek, through bottomlands, wetlands and forested hillsides on both sides of Salmon Creek and the north end of Cougar Creek.

The trail is relatively flat, except for a slope up to Northwest 36th Ave. Besides the trailhead in Salmon Creek Regional Park, where the Klineline Ponds are located, the trail can also be accessed at the paved parking lot near the Vancouver Girls Softball Association’s fields off Northwest Hazel Dell Avenue. There are restrooms at this location. The parking lot is a few blocks west of the Salmon Creek Greenway Trail main parking lot.

The Klineline Ponds location is open year-round. There are paved paths throughout the area. One of the more unique features is a sandy beach with lifeguards on duty during the summer. Lifeguards typically are on duty from 11 am to 7 pm daily beginning July and running through Labor Day. A splash pad is operational when lifeguards are on duty.

Daily parking fees will be collected at fee booths year-round. Fee booth attendants will only accept cash, debit cards, Visa and MasterCard. When fee booths are not staffed, park users will need to use self-pay stations which accept cash only.

Please observe the following rules when using Klineline Pond:

• No pets, other than service animals, are allowed across the bridge into the main use area of the park. Note: dogs on leash are allowed on the greenway trail. 


• No boats, canoes, kayaks, rafts or air mattresses are allowed in the pond.


• No abusing docks, ropes, buoys and pilings.


Fishing is allowed at Klineline Ponds with a current fishing license from the state of Washington.
